Matrix Nouveau is a series of three framed works from 2017, made with a more free-flowing process than the bodies that came before. I let the paint and the cutting stay loose — nothing overly manipulated — so more natural, spontaneous formations could surface. The work later anchored the third interlinking section of my 2021 solo exhibition In the Fold at Nancy Toomey Fine Art, its unstructured, amorphous composition set deliberately against the rigid, crystalline character of Sunset Crystal Fold.
