Candy Bowl Meltdown Redux is a return to the immersive cut paper installation I built in 2015 at the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery, reconfigured here for Golden West College Art Gallery’s Neoteric exhibition. Months of color-splashed knife-cut drawings reassembled into a dense skeletal canopy — the work hangs in part of the gallery while video projection threads through it, washing the cutouts in shifting nature footage and saturated color.
The viewer becomes a participant the moment they step in, figures cast into red, green, and blue shadows by gelled overhead light. It’s a synesthesia chamber: paper, light, projection, and atmosphere collapsing into one experience.
