187 x 84 inches | laminated acrylic sheet with embedded photographic print | 2011 | Permanent Installation | U.S. Consulate | Dubai, U.A.E.
I was commissioned by the U.S. Department of State to create a large permanent artwork for the recently constructed U.S. Consulate in Dubai. City Blossom Pop is a three-part site-specific wall relief, custom designed as a triptych to fit the multi-paneled architecture. The composition pulls from my paper-cutting vocabulary — flowering forms and intertwined vegetation translated into laminated acrylic with an embedded photographic print, so the silhouettes hold color and depth across the long horizontal span.
