Reflecting Within Us was designed to create a wondrous world for those visiting the waiting area. Comprised of more than a hundred intricate shapes hanging from the ceiling, the aerial sculpture floats above, circumventing the room along a one-hundred-fifty-foot perimeter.
The mirrored surfaces interact with ambient sunlight from the windows to create an interplay of reflected light and delicate shadows on the surrounding architecture. Cut from highly polished stainless steel, the shapes form silhouettes recognizable in nature — birds, trees, water — intertwining into a landscape that travels fantastically through the clouds. The scene encourages personal interpretation, inviting each viewer to participate in its open-ended meaning.
